The 2007 Lambert Todd Pace - Northside Downs $2,800.00
The competition between the Cape Breton tracks was never more keen than in circa 1929-40 when horsemen from Sydney, North Sydney, Reserve Mines, Glace Bay and Inverness formed community racing associations and purchased "community horses."
Lambert Todd, 2:02.1, was believed to be the first community horse in North America. The former Grand Circuit performer was owned by the Reserve Mines syndicate. Lambert Todd who was brought into the maritimes from Quebec and was the First horse to break the 2.10 mark at Halifax against a automobile. Bred in Canada he was quite the horse and set several records during his career.
Great Scott represented Sydney while Pale Face was the Glace Bay community horse.
